They say an apple a day keeps the doctor away!! Well I’m not too sure of how true this is BUT I do know this recipe is sure to keep you cuddled up in your favorite blanket with a warm cup of coffee. Apple pie always gives me a sense of comfort and simplicity to the season. I got this recipe from The Recipe Wrench years ago and have been making it ever since.
Apple pie is one of my favorite fall go to recipes. It’s warm, it’s gooey, it’s not too sweet, it’s not too tangy, it’s appley (if that is a word), in a buttery crust, and just downright good. See my easy as pie video on Youtube so you can have one on your table for the holidays.
- 4-6 apples depending upon size of apples : I used honeycrisp, granny smith, and gala (any is fine as long as they are fresh)
- 1 Tbsp fresh lemon juice
- 1 Cup sugar
- 1 Cup water
- 1/4 Tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 Tsp nutmeg
- 1/4 Tsp salt
- 1/4 Cup cornstarch
- 1 Tsp vanilla extract
